This is probably the most popular wave sailing spot in the central Texas coast. True North, Northeast, or South winds are best so you can get 'out'. The bigger swells form near the pier, but the big jetties to the north provide a small area of cover (in North winds) to help newcomers get familiar with wave sailing. The waves are rarely overhead, bigger further out past the last sand bar, but can get monstrous if there is a big storm somewhere in the gulf.
